Someone is shooting wild horses, leaving them to die. How can someone be so cruel? How many more mustangs must be killed in the American West before the carnage is stopped?

Sunset’s End, by V P Felmlee, is the shocking conclusion as humans and horses, led by the legendary Ghost Horse, race to save the mustangs of the Mountain Mesa.

“This is my fourth and final book in this series,” Felmlee said, “an exciting journey that I admit has been pretty emotional. The research was arduous.” The other books in the series are Autumn and The Silver Moon Stallion, Silver Medallion winner, 2024 WILLA Awards; In The Dark Night, and The Color of Fire. All are based on the government-led plans to eliminate all mustangs from the American West.

“Many years ago as a reporter,” Felmlee said, “I wrote about various plans to save wild horses and burros, the result of laws passed in the early 1970s. Little did I know those laws have now been abrogated, leading to wholesale abuse and slaughter of these animals. Today, there are less than 60,000 wild horses in eight Western states.”

The book is dedicated to Scout, a beautiful Yukon horse who was shot dead, the perpetrator never discovered. “When I learned about Scout and how much he was loved, bringing his story into this book was a natural fit,” she added.
